Had Been A Superior Resident For Many Years; Was Old-Time Fiddler
Edward G. White a Superior resident for many years, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Evon Sykes at Ruskin Thursday, May 6. He was 85 years, 5 months and 3 days of age.
Born in Manchester, KY, Dec. 3, 1868, he was the son of William Letcher White and Martha Elizabeth Price White.
He was married to Miss Lucy Cottingim on June 12, 1886. She passed away on June 18, 1943. An infant daughter, Margaret, also preceded him in death.
The family came to Nuckolls county (sic) in 1904. They lived on a farm north of Superior at first and then moved to a farm south of Hardy where they made their home until moving to Superior about 30 years ago. Mr. White was well-known as an "old-time" fiddler and as a violin maker and expert repair man on violins and other musical instruments. Since his wife's passing, he has made his home with his children.
He is survived by seven sons and six daughters: The sons are Letch of Hastings, Pearl of Artesia, Calif., John and Hugh of Wyandotte, Mich., George of Savannah, Mo., Tom and Jim of Superior. The daughters: Mrs. Lena Terrill of Freedom, Okla., Mrs. Clara Krogh of Windsor, Mo., Mrs. Martha Sykes of Ruskin, Mrs. Florence Haase and Mrs. Ethel Adrian of Hastings and Mrs. Mae Andersen of Superior. There are also 30 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Megrue-Denny Funeral home Monday, May 10, with Rev. H.J. Crandall officiating and interment was in Evergreen cemetery (sic).
