Mrs. Smith was born on July 6, 1925 in Brunswick County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Ellis and Emma Stanley Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Effie Smith, and husband, Foy, Linnie Main, Adron Smith, and wife, Virgie, Garlie Smith, Odell Smith, and wife, Adell, Newman Smith, Doris Ward, and husband, Ralph, Zellie Phillips, and husband, James Franklin, Lora Smith, and wife, Clara, Bice D'Coda Smith, Wendell Smith, and wife, Lucille, and Aileen Smith, and her brother-in-law, Vonnie Long.
She retired as a school teacher after 20 years having taught at Old Dock, Waccamaw, and Shallotte High School & Shallotte Middle School.
Surviving are her sister, Rosie Long, of Hickman's Crossroads; brother-in-law, Rex Main, of Laurinburg; sister-in-law, Nita Smith, of Ash, and 31 nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22nd in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Rev. Charlie Smith. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Gene Smith, Randy Ward, Thelbert Smith, Clint Long, Wayne Smith, & Daniel Guinn.
Honorary casketbearers will be Waburn Ward and Ted Smith.
