"Mrs. Sylvia Anna Coons Sherman, 72, of 420 1/2 Chandler, died Saturday evening (Aug 1, 1970) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Born March 27, 1898, at Veedersburg, Ind., she was the daughter of Howard and Mary E. Stull Sigler. She was a Danville resident most of her life and attended city schools.

On Aug 3, 1916, she was married to Albert F. Coons Sherman in Danville and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are seven sons, John H., Albert F., Raymond E. and Floyd S., all of Danville, William A. of Georgetown, Charles E. of Hopewell, N.J., and Harold H. with the U.S. Army in Vietnam; two daughter, Mrs. Stella Pierce of Danville and Mrs. Shirley Pierce of Tilton; a brother, Howard Sigler of Danville; 42 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, a son and a grandson who died in Vietnam.

Mrs. Coons Sherman belonged to the Nazarene Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel Smith officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday." - Commercial News, Danville, Illinois, August 3, 1970
