Frances Hilton was born on February 6, 1902 in Virgin, Washington, Utah to Atkins Hinton and Sarah Elzira Sanders. He was the 4th of ten children born to the couple.
He grew up in Hurricane, Washington, Utah. While in school, he learned about the pirate, Sir Francis Drake, and some students started calling him Drake. After that, his nick name became Drake and it stuck with him the rest of his life. He quit school a few months after he started the ninth grade. After quitting school, he worked odd jobs. One of his jobs, brought him to Cane Beds, Arizona, where he met his future bride, Zina Alberta Perkins.
They were married on November 18, 1937 in Las Vegas, Nevada by a justice of the Peace, who was a relative. They were later married in the St. George, Utah Temple. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Los Angeles, California, because Francis got a job there. On June 20 1938, their first child, a daughter, was born. They later moved back to southern Utah, where Francis work on a turkey farm. Later on, they moved to back to Cane Beds, Arizona, where he worked with his brother-in-laws running cattle. They had their second child, a son, on Aug 6 1943 while they were living in Cane Beds.
Francis and Alberta continued to live in Cane Beds, Arizona, until their health required them to move to a Care Center in Hurricane, Utah. Frances died on August 29, 1984 in Hurricane, Utah. Alberta died on June 6, 2000 also in Hurricane, Utah.
