On August 14, 1948 he was married in Churubusco to Frances Irene Gross.
As a young man he farmed and was previously employed at Allen County Co-Op in New Haven, Fort Meyers, as well as painting barns. He retired in 1991 from Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne after 30 years.
Mr. Eby was a member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church and also danced with the former Boots ‘n Bonnets Square Dancing.
The surviving relatives include his wife of 64 years, Frances Irene Eby of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Karen (Fred) MacFarland of Fort Wayne and Sheila Coburn of Huntertown; a son, Dennis (Julie) Eby of Angola; two brothers, David (Mary) Eby of Fort Wayne and Ron (Carol) Eby of Huntertown; six granddaughters, Carrie (Chad) Hindenlang, Cris (Mark) Nolot, Lindsey Eby, Tasha (Jeff) Santalucia, Danielle (Brent) Powell, and Kelli Roberson; a grandson, Devin Coburn; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Connie Eby.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Rev. Greg Hiatt, pastor of Huntertown United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
