Robert J. "Bob" Wondra, 79, died December 19, 2009 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born July 23, 1930 at Redwing, Kansas, the son of Joseph K. and Agnes C. (Debes) Wondra. He married Betty Maneth May 15, 1950 at Great Bend. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Wondra was a farmer his entire life and was employed by Aquila for thirty-one years, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Wondra was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, where he had been a choir member for fifty-three years. He was also a frequent blood donor, donating more than 130 pints.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Wondra, Great Bend, Kansas; three sons: Richard Wondra and wife Debbie, Goddard, Kansas; Mike Wondra and wife Vicki, Garden City, Kansas; and Steve Wondra and wife Joanne, Great Bend; four daughters: Margaret Evers, Great Bend; Susan Wilson and husband Karl, Great Bend; Debra Allen and husband Larry, Hudson, Kansas; and Barbara Ward and husband Justin, Bentley, Kansas; three brothers: Arthur Wondra, Great Bend; Gerald Wondra, Great Bend; and Alois Wondra, Odin, Kansas; four sisters: Mary Ann Collins, Great Bend; Margaret White, Great Bend; Jeanie Hapes, Great Bend; and Rita Legleiter, St. Mary's, Kansas; twenty-two grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant brother, Thomas; three sisters, Sr. Edith Wondra, Cecilia T. Schneweis, and Alice Wondra; and one son-in-law, Lynn Evers.

Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Father Reginald A. Urban will be celebrant. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2009 and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Prince of Peace Parish or CKMC Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center, both in care of the funeral home.
