Veteran of the American Revolution. On alarm at Dartmouth and Falmouth September 1778, he marched in Lt.Crowell's company, Col.Nathaniel Freeman's Regiment, and did 13 days service.

He married Bethia Sears Jan 4,1789 at Harwich.

Children: Edward Sears Jr, Samuel Sears, Tamsen Sears Howes, Bethia Sears, John Sears, Susanna Sears, and Vienna Sears.
