Bethel "Betty" Barr, 87, of rural Traer, died at home Tuesday, December 8, 2003 following an extended illness. She was born April 26, 1922, in Dysart, daughter of Adam and Addie Swartout Dicken. On September 3, 1939, she married Robert Barr at Amity Presbyterian Church. He died May 23, 1994.
Mrs. Barr graduated from Dysart High School in 1939. She and her husband farmed northwest of Traer until 1948, when they moved Eldora. She worked for Pine Lake Motel and also was a clerk at the local grocery store, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Barr is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Butler of Traer; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter; seven brothers, Gilbert, Lawrence, Dilman, Dale, Alvin, Mahlon and Lloyd Dicken; and two sisters, Beryl and Mildred.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, where visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer.
