Melvin "Mel" L. Blotsky, 67, 1405 25th Avenue South, Fargo, ND, died Monday, February 3, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Melvin L. Blotsky was born on November 17, 1935, in Raleigh, ND. He married Palma (Pam) Rheault in St. Benedict's Church, Wild Rice, ND, on June 22, 1955. They lived in the Fargo area.

He worked for the Fargo Street Department from 1955 to 1967, and Metropolitan Savings and Loan from 1967 to 1978 where he went into business for himself as owner and operator of the Watering Hole in Wild Rice, ND, until 1985. He then worked for Gate City Savings and Loan and then operated Mel's Mini Coach Service until retiring in 1993.

Mel enjoyed fishing, pool, and playing horseshoe. He also enjoyed being with his wife and children very much.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; five sons, Kurt and fiancee Connie, Fargo, Rick (Ann), Fargo, Mike (Tracy), Helena, MT, Kevin, Fargo, and Brad (Diane), Fargo; two daughters, Debbie (Larry) Bartholomay, Mapleton, ND, and Jackie (Kevin) Hoaas, Fargo. He is also survived by two brothers, Jake Jr. (Gloria), Fargo, and Jim (Naya) Newburgh, Indiana; three sisters, Lorraine Martin, Fargo, Darlene (Dick) Dahlquist, Brookfield, WI, and Jane (Bill) Hubert, Fargo; seven grandchildren, Kasey, Tony, Evan, Alex, Amanda, Jack, and Kendra; and one step-grandson, Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Regina, and a sister, Gerry Mulvaney.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo.
