She was born June 15, 1916 in Laurens, SC to the late Samuel J. Taylor and Josephine Entrekin Taylor. She attended Laurens County Schools and was a retired secretary with Southern Sash and Door Company. She was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter R. Phillips, Sr.; second husband, Edward S. Thomas; brother, Fred Taylor; and sister, Evelyn Watson.
Surviving are a son, Walter R. Phillips, Jr. and wife, Elaine of Easley; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
