MARBLEHEAD - Monica Lewis, 80, of 10 Mount Vernon St., died Tuesday at her late home. She was the wife of the late Richard F. Lewis, and was born in Salem, daughter of the late Anthony and Xavera (Szymanski) Swiniarski.
She had been a resident of Marblehead for more than 40 years and was a self-employed seamstress for more than 50 years, retiring 10 years ago.
She was active in the Marblehead Senior Citizens and was Senior Citizen of the Year in 1984.
She was also active in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church activities and Star of the Sea Church Mothers Club organizational affairs.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward B. (M. Lucy) Hamson of Marblehead; a son, Alexander R. Lewis of Freemont, Calif., and six grandchildren.
Funeral from the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church at 10 a.m.
