MARBLEHEAD - Marion "Lucy" (Pelchat) Hamson of West Shore Drive, died Monday in Salem Hospital. She was the wife of Edward B. Hamson.

Born Dec. 23, 1924, in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Monica (Swinarski) Pelchat. She was a lifelong resident of North Shore.

Mrs. Hamson graduated with high honors from Salem High School. She also attended Syracuse University for two years.

She served more than 30 years as a technical engineer at the General Electric Co. After retiring from GE she became a world traveler and recently returned from Paris. She loved to attend local theater and softball games. She was an avid knitter and crocheter.

At 72, she was an active member of the Energy Works Gym in Marblehead. She played violin with the Lynn Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Duffetts Dancers. She was a vote counter for Marblehead elections, a former traffic supervisor for the Marblehead Police Department, and was in the Mothers Club at Star of the Sea Church. She was the family historian.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Eustis-Cornell Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 142 Elm St., Marblehead. Donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 66Y Concord St., Wilmington, MA 01887. Burial will be private.
