Obituary:Zacheus Chase died at his home, 830 Garland street, about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. He has been in poor health for some years and confined to his bed for the last two weeks. The deceased was born 64 years ago in New Bedford, Mass., and in 1858 came to Flint as a book keeper for Gov. Crapo. After the death of his employer Mr. Chase bought the Crapo lumber yard and conducted that business as long as it remained profitable. Of late year's he has been a carriage broker. His first wife was a sister of the late Sumner Howard, and to them were born three children; Chas. H.S., Mrs. F.A. Aldrich and Miss Lucy W.S. Chase who reside in this city. In 1880 he married his present wife, at New Bedford, Mass. Mr. Chase was a prominent member int the Genesee Valley Commandry K.T. and was elected Eminent Commander in 1885-86. He was also mayor of the city in 1880. " 20 November 1900 in the Flint Journal on page 4. "
