COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 06/21/2004 - BARDSTOWN
Alfred E. "Manuel" Hayden, 75, died Saturday, June 19, 2004. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathederal. Visitation: 5-9 p.m. Monday and 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home.

SPRINGFIELD SUN OBITUARY - 06/23/2004
Alfred E. (Manuel) Hayden, 75, of Bardstown, died at 11:04 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at his residence. He was a native of Bardstown, a member of the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral and American Legion Post 121 at Bardstown. He was a former Bardstown City policeman and a retired employee of Ford Motor Company in Louisville where he worked for 30 years on the assembly line. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served as an airplane electrical mechanic.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James Lewis and Amanda Elizabeth Downs Hayden; one sister, Anna Lee Dykal; and three brothers, Jimmy Hayden, Cecil Hayden and Loy Hayden. Survivors include his wife, Mary Julia McConnell Hayden of Bardstown; six daughters, Lia (Dave) Rosser of Quality, Ky., Pat (Mike) Fogle of Louisville, Margie Reichenback of Louisville, Ann Smith of Bardstown, Carolyn (Barry) Ritchie of Lexington, Kathy (Gerald) Jackson of Bardstown; three sons, Joseph E. (Donna) Hayden of Louisville, Mac (Nancy) Hayden of Villa Hills, Ky. and Kevin (Crystal) Hayden of Bardstown; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Prayer services were held Tuesday, June 22 with an American Legion Post 121 Memorial Service following. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown with Fr. Bill Medley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home in Bardstown was in charge of the arrangements.
