She was raised South of Hendley, Nebraska and graduated from Hendley High School at Hendley, Nebraska. Following graduation she attended Kearney State Teachers College for 1 year. She taught Country School for several years near Hendley, Nebraska. She married Oscar Norval Mart on January 26, 1935 at Norton, Kansas. They were cattle breeders and farmed in the Rexford, Kansas area following marriage until 1966 when they moved back to Hendley and farmed and raised cattle. They retired in the 1970's. Her husband Norval died June 19, 1998. She moved to Beaver City Manor at Beaver City, Nebraska in March of 2004 and resided there until her death.
She was a member of Hendley United Methodist Church and later transfered membership to First United Methodist Church at Beaver City, Nebraska. She was a member of United Methodist Women and Royal Neighbors of America to just name a few.
Irma was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: her parents, Robert and Louise Martin; husband, Oscar Norval Mart; grandson, Mitchell Mart; great-grandson, Dylan Rhoten and sisters, Merna Smith and Glenva Hinkle.
Survivors are: Son, Robert Mart of Grand Island, Nebraska; Daughter, Novella and husband Terry Rhoten of Dodge City, Kansas; brother, Bobby Martin and wife Burdella of Arapahoe, Nebraska; sister, Neva Longsine of Central City, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives.
