Ruth Ann Newton was the youngest daughter of Aubie Lee and Nora Mae (Ward) Newton and the baby sister to Mary Lois and William Lee. She was also the granddaughter of John Erwin and Lula Cleveland (Lee) Newton. She may have been named after her Aunt Ruth or her great grandmother Ruth Louise (Florida) Lee. Her life was cut short when she developed a very severe form of Polio that affected her breathing. She spent her last few months in a very large iron lung because she could not breath on her own. Upon her passing she was brought back to Springer, New Mexico to be buried in the Springer Cemetery. She is buried near her grandparents.
