Josephine Motes Thomas, 79, of Brycesville died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam M. Herrington, 2952 Green St, Jacksonville. She was a native of Nassau County and a Baptist. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Minnie Mizell, Mrs. Kenneth Thomas and Mrs. Ethel Crawford all of Baldwin. Mrs. Sam M. Herrington, Mrs. Lillie Vaughn, Mrs. Marie Harrington and Mrs. Joe Crawford all of Jacksonville; two sons, Lacy Thomas, Baldwin, Marion Thomas, Jacksonville; 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The body will rest in the Trinity Chapel of John M. Binkley in Macclenny until 2 p.m. Sunday when it will be moved to the church. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Brandy the Branch Baptist Church in Nassau County with the Rev Simmons officiating. Active pallbearers will be H. D. Higginbotham, J.D. Ryan, Earl Braddock, Pasco Fouraker, L.O. Ellison and M. F. Kast. Honorary will be C.A. Hunt, Bryant Braddock, Lonnie Stokes, D. F. Fouraker, Clyde Fouraker and Luke Lane. Pallbearers are requested to be at the church at 3 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Brandy Branch Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of John M. Brinkley, mortician, Macclenny. Florists have flowers in Macclenny by 1 p.m., Sunday.
