He was born September 12, 1931 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Harry and Edna Gordon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a retired business agent with Teamsters Local 728; served as a Douglas County Commissioner, District 1; was a Veteran of the Korean War; served 46 years with the Air National Guard and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Hiram, GA.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his sons, David Gordon, Winder, GA; Donald and his wife April Gordon, Stockbridge, GA; Dennis Gordon, Buford, GA; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Pete and her husband Bill Sullivan, Snellville, GA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tues, May 12, 2009 from 4-8 PM. The funeral service will be Wed, May 13, 2009 at 2PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram, GA, with Dr. Quinn Evans, Reverend Zeb Ellis and Reverend Grady Bridges officiating. Mr. Gordon will lie in state at the church from 1-2PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, Atlanta, GA, with full military honors.
