She was born on February 8, 1907, in Cobden, the daughter of Warren and Agnes Patterson Whelpley.
She married Melvin C. Anderson on October 1, 1930, in Cobden. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1979.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Jan Anderson of Goreville; a brother, Henry Whelpley; two granddaughters and their husbands, Susan and Mike Anderson of Cobden and Carolyn and Dan White of Herrin; and five great grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Fisher, Robyn Silvania, and Katherine and Derek White.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Anna and a 50-year member of the former Order of Eastern Star in Cobden.
She was a retired school teacher with the Cobden School District.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 1999, at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Ron Henwood officiating.
