Mamie L. Garrison was born in Indian Territory (Whitebead, Oklahoma) to Sam and Lula Burkett. After the death of her mother at approximately one month old she was raised by her maternal grandmother Polly Ann Harmon.

She married John Knox Garrison at 17 and the couple had four children, Hazel, Jonnie Ann, John Knox "J.K.", and Frank Garrison. She was a loving, caring, hardworking wife and mother.
After moving to California she worked almost 30 years at the Hotel California in Fresno.

She seemed the happiest when she was able to cook and feed her family and guests. She and Knox lived many years on the farm in Selma, California where she raised chickens and always had a big garden to feed the family and neighbors.

She was a faithful member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Selma, and Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Fresno.

She was preceded in death by her husband Knox; and her son J.K. She also outlived all her siblings.

She is survived by Hazel Butler, Jonnie Ann Gregory, and Frank and Mary Garrison; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 25 greatgreat grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Thursday, December 17, 2009, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service at Belmont Memorial Park on Friday,. December 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Southern Baptist Church, on Friday, December 18, 2009, at 12:00 noon.
