Anna M Burnham was a native of New York but came with her parents to Iowa, locating at Griswold, when she was 5 years old. She met Samuel Reeves while she was attending school at the "academy" in Sidney in the mid 1860's. In about 1867, at age 17 years, Anna began teaching in the rural schools of Fremont County. She attended the M.E. Church at Sidney and also taught Bible Class in her Sunday School a great many years.

Anna and Samuel Reeves, son of Elza Armstrong Reeves and Susannah "Susan" Irwin, were married March 4, 1869, in Fremont County, Iowa. For several years they lived on a farm five miles north of Sidney, later moved to the town of Sidney, and prior to her death lived in Otis, Colorado, where Samuel owned land. Anna left Otis, Colorado two weeks prior to her death, to be with her daughter in Lamoni, Iowa. Samuel came shortly afterward and was with her when she died.

Anna had been in ill health since Feb 1908 when she suffered from an attack of LaGrippe (influenza). The immediate cause of her death was pneumonia after a short illness.

Seven children were born to this union: Josiah H, Loren E, Elza H, Orvil S, Susan V, Elbert M, and Bertha, who died in infancy.
