With great sadness, we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Shirley Mavis Arnold Harrison. She died peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Emeritus Estates in Ogden of causes incident to age.

Shirley was born in Coalville, Utah on July 24, 1924 to William H. and Sarah Myrtle Crouch Arnold.

She graduated from North Summit High School in 1942. She was an excellent typist and loved playing the piano. Shirley came to Ogden after graduation and started her working career in Civil Service. She also worked at Utah General Depot, Marquardt, and Murdock Machine companies. She worked in personnel in these companies. She loved people and finding positions and tranquility in the job market for them.

She married Thomas J. Harrison in 1945. They spent fifty-eight wonderful years together. He passed away in 2003.

Family was the most important aspect of Shirley's life. The greatest gift she ever gave to her family was her time. She was always there for her husband during his illness. She supported her children in all their endeavors with great encouragement and loved her grandchildren and "greats" more than anything in this world.

Shirley leaves behind her two children, Patricia (Kenneth) Jensen, Pleasant View; Michael Harrison, Lincoln, Rhode Island; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Chad) Smith, Ashley (Cody) Hadley, Amanda Jensen, all of the Ogden area; and Andrew Harrison, Rochester, NY; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Carter Smith, and Connor Hadley, plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, a brother, William Jack Arnold, her husband Tom, and great-granddaughter, Chelsea Ann Hadley.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, with Chad Smith, grandson-in-law officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
