Moses served in the Revolutionary War. According to his widow's pension file #749: He enlisted in 1775 at the age of 18 in Hardwick and served 8 months in Colonel Learned's Massachusetts Regiment, in the companies of Captain Benjamin Gates, Captain Samuel Billings, and Captain Granger. In June 1775, he began 7 months of service in Captain Daniel Warner's Company of Colonel Helman's regiment. Moses fought in the Battle of White Plains. Beginning in January 1776, he served 3 months in Colonel Dana's Massachusetts Regiment, Captain Barnabus Sears' Company. Beginning in June 1777, Moses served 6 months in Colonel Danforth Keyes's Massachusetts Regiment, Captain E. Newall's [Newell's] Company. Moses received arms from the Province store in North Kingston on December 15, 1777. On July 21, 1779, he mustered into Captain Moor's Company of Colonel Whitney's Massachusetts Continental Regiment. Moses served in Rhode Island and at West Point. He was discharged on January 11, 1781.
