Joseph is the son of Joseph Howe and Dorothy Martin of Watertown and Charlestown respectfully.Joseph married twice,1st to Zerviah Howe,daughter of Daniel Howe and Elizabeth Kerley,on 20 Feb 1721. They only had the one child,a girl named

After his wife's death he married Ruth Brigham, daughter of Jonathan Brigham and Mary Fay,12 Jul 1727 and together they had nine children:
