Mr. Ben D. Williamson, age 83 of Vidalia, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 after an extended illness. He was a native of Emanuel County and had lived in Vidalia since 1945. He retired from General Gas Company after twenty-five years of service. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist since 1958, the Men's Sunday School Class and was a member of the Vidalia Masonic Lodge # 330. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Allmond Williamson and his parents, Walton and Annie Coleman Williamson.
Mr. Williamson is survived by three sons, Ronnie Williamson of Atlanta; Roy Williamson of Douglas; and Donald Williamson of Vidalia, one sister, Vinie Keeling of Los Angeles, California, one brother, Clifford Williamson of Gray, four grandchildren, Keith Williamson of Atlanta; Wendy Williamson Coyne of Atlanta; Ashley Carney of Vidalia; and Brent Williamson of Savannah, two great-grandchildren, Teagan Carney and Savannah Coyne and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Murray Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Williamson Cemetery in Montgomery County with Masonic Graveside Rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
