RUTH MATILDA SCHMITT - 1916 – 2009

Went home to be with the Lord from Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge, on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at age 93.

Beloved wife of the late Rev. Lorne Schmitt; loved mother of Mary Makris (Ken), Lois Austen, John (Judy), Esther Elder (Larry), Paul (Linda), and Daniel (Caroline); loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; dear sister of Marie Kleinsasser.

Predeceased by a brother, John Duerksen and a sister, Martha Oswald. Friends are invited to share their memories of Ruth with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vern Trafford officiating. A reception will follow the service.

Interment in Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery.

Condolences for the family and donations to Wycliffe Bible Translators or Fairview Mennonite Home may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. In living memory of Ruth, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
