Paul was active in his community, as well as St. John's Lutheran Church of Curtis, Nebraska. He taught Sunday school for many years, in his later years he was honored to serve as an elder in his church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards and spending time with close friends and family. In Paul's younger years he was known to play Santa Claus at the grade school in Moorefield, Nebraska. Paul's true pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Paul farmed for many years, and worked at Monroe Tenneco plant in Cozad, Nebraska for 17 years before retiring in 1988.
