RASCAL, you were our third dog. You came to us on Nov. 6, 1996 at just 4 months of age. You were the only one of our dogs that was not a rescued pet. Instead, you were a Gift of Love from our dear sister Shirley who understood the tremendous loss we were feeling from the death of Big Boy (our first dog) and the loss of companionship that Brownie was experiencing. I remember the moment that Brownie came up to sniff you. She must have looked like a giant to you. You were so small, and she was a full-grown 6 year old. Despite the differences in size, she "mothered" you, and the two of you became fast friends.

Your fur was all black except for a tuft of white on your throat, and you were so furry that we couldn't even see your eyes. So, when you were 6 months old, we went to the groomer for your first haircut. What a wonderful surprise! Under all that fur was a very handsome dog. I went crazy taking pictures of you playing in the yard. Looking back, I am so grateful for those hours we spent together for they were to be our last. You died the next day in a tragic car accident. We are left with just those few beautiful photos of you .... and happy memories of a very intelligent and playful pup. Losing you was very difficult, but it made us realize how important it was for Brownie to have a companion. And so Shadow came into our lives.

This Memorial and these photos are our way of thanking you (and our dear sister Shirley) for the Joy that you brought into our lives ... even though it was for such a short time.

Run now and play with Brownie, Big Boy and Thumper until we meet at The Rainbow Bridge.
