On December 22, 1937, he married Carmilla Mae Flores in Santa Anna, Texas. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before his death. Dick was a farmer and rancher and life time member of the Methodist church. He and Carmilla were parents to three daughters, Naomi Novalene (Jim Reid), Dixie Jo (J. C. Bible) and Nancy Lee (Lonnie Lowry).
