Sand and Gravel president Goodwin Lyons dies at 71 Goodwin R. Lyons, 71, of 1110 Glen, Janesville, president of Janesville Sand and Gravel Co., died Tuesday at home.

Born Sept. 20, 1911, in Madison, he married Mary L. Cusick on Oct. 4,1936 in Oregon. She died on May 8, 1968.

A Janesville resident since 1963, Lyons had attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He was active in national and state trade associations, having served as a director of National Janesville Sand and Gravel.

He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Curch, Janesville Country Club, Madison Club, past Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club, and was past president of Ready Mix Concrete Association and the Associate Board of A.G. C. He served on the executive board of the United Way and on the board of directors of Marine First National Banks, Janesville and Edgerton.

Surviving are a son Goodwin, Jr. of Edgerton; three daughters, Loie Yaeger of Hinsdale, Ill., Mary Flo Werner and Lisa Stevens, both of Janesville; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church,with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8p.m. Thursday in Schneider Funeral Home, where a scripture service will be held at 8pm.

Memorials may be made to Bower City Garden Club.
