Elizabeth "Bettie" Cox was the oldest child of Robert and Opal Ellingsworth Cox and sister to Paul.

Bettie's family moved to the Redondo Beach/Torrance area of So California in the late 1920s. They moved to Houston, TX for a while in the mid 1930s, but by 1940 were back in Redondo Beach area. During this time of World War II, she met David Allen III at the Bon Ton Ballroom on the Santa Monica pier. They married around 1942.

David and Bettie lived in Torrance Ca where they raised two daughters. Betty worked in the May Co Department Store during that time.

One of Bettie's favorite hobbies was cake decorating. And she loved to decorate the home for all the holidays. If there was an art and crafts class to take, she took it!
