ONAWA, Iowa -- Frances M. Thompson, 86, of Onawa died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery.

Frances was born July 11, 1918, in Pisgah, Iowa, the daughter of Neal and Ida May (Butts) Grandgenette. She lived and worked in the Onawa area her entire life. She cleaned various businesses in Onawa including, Snyders Bakery, Onawa Cafe and various attorney's offices.

She and Glen Thompson were united in marriage on July 19, 1942, in Dakota City. Glen passed away Nov. 1, 1968, in Platte, S.D.

She was a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Onawa.

She is survived by five daughters, JoAnn Lintin and Sherry (Randy) Thompson, all of Onawa, Virginia (Chris) Mathison of Turin, Iowa, Marsha Neldeberg of Onawa and Norma Jean Jump of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sons, Terry (Maureen) Thompson of Sergeant Bluff and Bill (Carol) Thompson of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Elaine (Wayne) Carlson of Onawa; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Otis and Harlan Grandgenette, both of Onawa; a sister, Ruth Young of Flatwoods, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Elsie Grandgenette of Onawa; and a son-in-law, Darrell Keifer of Waterloo, Neb.

In addition to her husband, Glen, she was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Garland Glen; a daughter, Doris Keifer; a brother, Ben Grandgenette; three sons-in-law, John C. Lintin, John Neldeberg Jr. and James Jump; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Grandgenette.
