Nancy Carolyn Hill Fetters, 61, died of cancer May 26, 2006, at home. Visitation was at Evergreen's Eagle River Funeral Home. Services were held in the King's Way Church, 10336 East Eagle River Loop. Visitation preceded the service. The Rev. Louis J. Aiken officiated. A graveside service was at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Mrs. Fetters was born Dec. 4, 1944, in Ysleta Texas, the fourth of five children to Allan and Ida Hill. She lived in many U.S. states and for three years in Germany, finally settling in Alaska in 1985. Her family wrote: "In each and every place, Nancy has found the greatest of friends. After each move she still found ways to keep her friendships with those she had left. She had great friends because she was a great friend. She was a great joy to be around, cheerful, happy, loving, and willing to do anything for anyone. "Nancy brought her joy and passion to all she did, including 35 years of work in the computer field, retiring from Matanuska Telephone Association in 1999. "In these last many years, inspired by her sisters and this beautiful land of Alaska, she has been a painter, and as with anything that Nancy loves, a teacher, patiently teaching others and allowing them to pull out the talents and greatness within. "She loved her sweetheart Chuck of 32 years, and all her family absolutely unconditionally. "What we know about Nancy is that as she moves on to a new place, she will find a way as she always has to still teach us, still let us know she cares, and still be a great part of our lives. She was a beautiful, passionate and joyful wife, daughter, mother, Nana, and friend to all."

Mrs. Fetters is survived by her husband, Charles Fetters Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Debbie Fetters; son, Charles Fetters Jr.; daughters and sons-in law, Lori and Loren Walmer and Cathy and Jason Herron; grandchildren, Alex, Kayla, Ben, Spencer, Jashua, Savannah, Sophie and Kirsten; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dolores Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Bob King; sister, Allene Gibson; and sister-in-law, Barbara Hill. She was preceded in death by her father, Allan Hill; mother, Ida Hill; and brother, Floyd Hill.
