ROME — Edward J. Warner, 79, of Dix Road, Rome, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.

He was born March 15, 1930 in the town of Fenner, the son of John and Harriett Whaley Warner. On Aug. 5, 1950, he married Helen H. Hill. She died on April 11, 1983. On Oct. 11, 1986, he married Lynn L. Clark in North Steuben Methodist Church.

Edward was the oldest of nine children and became the man of the house at the age of 12 when his father died. Edward was in the Marines from Nov. 25, 1947 to Nov. 24, 1951. He was a member of the Munnsville American Legion for 36 years and the Oneida Moose Club for 45 years. Edward was a trustee, caretaker, and sexton of the North Steuben Cemetery Association for many years. He worked for Metcalf Lumber, Madison County ARC and Birnie Bus Company. He drove buses for the Chittenango Central School District and retired in 1992 from the Maintenance Department of Oneida City Hospital.

Edward is survived by his wife, Lynn; his four sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and LuAnn Warner, Florida, Donald and Mary Jane Warner, Kirkville, Russell Warner and Benjamin Warner, both of Westmoreland; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Berry, Florida, Karen Davis, Kirkville, Laurie and Al Ostering, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucetta and Coe Barber, Kirkville and Judy and John Pinard, Canastota; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, George and Kay Warner, Munnsville, Lawrence Warner, Canastota, John Warner, Canastota, James and Roberta Warner, Clockville, and Robert Bellino, Canastota; thirteen Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a close family friend Paul M. Bourque. He was predeceased a son-in-law, Richard and two sisters and a brother, Kathryn, Joyce, and Roger.
