William Hasten Burks, an aged citizen of the Mt. Zion community, passed away last Saturday, March 14th after an attack of pneumonia. He was 75 years, one month and 16 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Burks was born in the state of Tennessee January 29, 1861 and came to Missouri with his parents, William and Larva Burks, when only nine years of age. He was married to Miss Mary Agnes Agnew November 13, 1884, and to this union thirteen children were born, three of whom preceded him in death several years ago. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. P.J. Eckhoff, pastor of the Iberia Congregational Church, were held from the Mt. Zion Church near the County Home, Monday, after which interment was made in the cemetery at that place under direction of the Adams & Casey funeral service of Iberia.
