Ray A. Jelle, gave over 32 years for U.S. Federal Service:

Starting with WWII, he was a Corporal (CPL) in the Army Air Force (Feb 1943 - Nov 1945);
European Theater of War Operations (ETO)

......647th Bombardment Squadron
Ray was the Medical Clerk for this Squadron, handled casualty reports, and even served as a body escort for SSgt Lloyd Hansen's remains going back to Kenmare, ND following a stateside training accident.

NOTE: The 410th Bomb Group was one of only 5 units to earn the Distinguished/Presidential Unit Citation for their combat actions from Dec 23 - 25, 1944. The 410th also participated in 6 campaigns in Europe meriting the wear of 1 silver and 5 bronze campaign stars on the WWII ETO Medal/Ribbon.

During Ray's interview about serving during WWII, he stated it was the second most important accomplishment in his life after having and raising his son Eric and daughter Lisa. All mention of his other adopted son has been understandably removed following the deliberate felony theft of a related estate re: CO 13th District Court Breach of Contract Case 04-CV-24 which is public record.

- EDUCATION: G.I. BILL: Nebraska State College, Chadron, graduated Magna cum Laude in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in political science/history and minor in economics.

- Ray tested with the 2nd highest score on west coast for Civil Service Exam.

- EMPLOYMENT: Ray began his 30 year career with the Social Security Administration in 1951 in Pocatello, Idaho.

- EMPLOYMENT: From 1953 to 1961 Mr. Jelle worked as a claims representative in Rock Springs, Wyo., where he was also the founding member of Sweetwater Credit Union Loan program donating the first $1,000 for the loan program to start.

1961 to 1969 he worked as a field representative in Eastern, Mont.

- MARRIAGE: On Sept. 6, 1966 he married Sandra Lynn Edlund. The family moved to Wyoming. and then to Sterling where Mr. Jelle was the branch manager of the Social Security Administration, Sterling office.

- RETIREMENT: Following Federal retirement in 1980, he worked as a relief dormitory director for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Jelle, a son, Eric and his wife Lori; and a sister, Pearl Painter.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra, in FEB 1999, and a sister, Gloria in the 1980's.

Memorial contributions were sent to establish the Ray Jelle Scholarship Fund.
