Mr. Montgomery was born June 17, 1942, in Carthage, Mo., to the late J.B. Montgomery and Sarah E. Wisler Montgomery and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1960 and still remains in close contact with many of his classmates.
He owned and operated Janitor Supply in Joplin, for several years and Montgomery Motors in Joplin, for several years. Charles was a member of Heritage Lodge No. 681, Joplin, and was an avid golfer. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, of Joplin.
Charles married Judy Vandiver on Sept. 17, 1987, in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Charles E. “Chuck” Montgomery, Joplin; one sister, Susan Long and her husband, Charles, Carl Junction; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Andrea; and a sister, Darlene Johnson.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Hank Deslatte and Ron Darby will officiate. Masonic services will be conducted by Gayle Bedell. The family will receive friends following the services at the chapel. Private interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
