Chisago County Press - 29-Dec-1950

Similar deaths overtook 2 farmers of southern Chisago county only a day apart from when both were found dead in barns both with heart conditions. The first death was that of Richard Johnson, 55 years old bachelor residing on a 40-acre farm a few mile northwest of Chisago City, between that town and Stacy. His death occurred on Christmas day when he was doing chores for a neighbor, Chester Nelson who had gone away that day with his family.

Johnson leaves one brother, Emil Johnson of that neighborhood and two sisters, the later whose names were not available at the time of this writing.

Johnson's death was reported as the result of a heart condition. His funeral will be held Friday afternoon at Sprain funeral Home with Seventh Day Adventist J. A. Nordenstrom of Minnaspolis officiating. Remains will be laid to rest in the Chisago Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carl Algot Anderson, residing near Center City, met a similar fate. He too died of a heart condition and his body was found beside a horse in the barn. He was reported to have passed away on Dec 26. Anderson who was 54 years of age, almost the same age as the Chisago City man who died the day before in the same circumstances.

Funeral for Mr. Anderson was held today from Chisago Lake Lutheran Church at Center City with Rev. J. W. Kempe officiating.

Pallbearers were: Albert Gustafson, Arnold Swenson, Gilbert Palmquist, Hilding Swanson, Theodore Gabrielson, and Ed Carlson. Interment was made at Kahbakong Cemetery at Taylors Falls.

Anderson was born in Sweden, came to this country in 1921, married the former Bonderson girl and has lived in this county since, farming near Center City.

He is survived by his wife and six children ranging in age from 8 to the early 20's. Mr. Anderson was a devout member of the Lutheran Church at Center City.
