Nicholas and Rebecca both died of cholera on the same day and are buried in the Morris Cemetery in Lincoln County. He also had a fine orchard of choice fruit, which completely surrounded the home. In 1860 he crossed the plains to Pike's Peak where he remained following mining for some months, after which he returned home to Pike County. He united with the Baptist Church in 1858. He was considered of fine reputation and a good businessman.
