They made their first home here in the Walla Walla district, remaining there only two years before settling on a homestead southwest of Odessa. This was their home until 1917, when they moved into Odessa. He leaves to mourn him his wife, 3 sons, 2 daughters, 3 brothers, 2 sisters in addition to other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the St Mathews Congregational church by the Rev P Kalmbach who preached two sermons, one in English and the other in German, after which the body was laid to rest in the Odessa Cemetery. ref: Odessa Record 17 Jun 1927
