Funeral services for Rev. George Kissler will be held today at 2 p.m. in the United
Congregational church with the Rev. B.M. Schafer officiating.
Rev. Kissler was born in Frank, Russia on January 21, 1892 and died in Odessa on June 6, 1965 at the age of 73. He was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational tradition.
On May 18, 1915 he was married to Clara Eckhardt at the farm home of her parents, Mr. Conrad and Mrs. Margaret (Goetz) Eckhardt. Rev. Kissler served in the active ministry for 37 years in the Congregational churches of Canada and in seven states of the United States. He served 18 different churches in his long and faithful ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Clara, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Adolph (Oletha) Borgens, Spokane and Mrs. Roy (Miriam) Knopp, Selah; two sons, Roland, Moses Lake and Norman of Lincoln, Nebraska; also seven sisters, Mrs. Jake (Anna) Lenhart, Ritzville; Mrs. Henry Bauer, Loveland, Colorado; Mrs. Alex (Marie) Cook and Mrs. Dan (Lydia) Schafer Frieske, Odessa; Mrs. Rachel Schultz and Mrs. Alton (Helen) Brewer, San Francisco, California; Mrs. Elton (Martha) Gibbs, Beaverton, Oregon; and three brothers, H. B. Schafer, Jake Kissler and Fred Kissler, all of Odessa.
Interment will be in the Odessa cemetery under the direction of Strate's funeral home.
