Virgil Marie Stone Hyde, 88 daughter of Edward W. and Ida Jane Morris Stone, born on February 12, 1898 in Scotland County, Missouri and passed away at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital on June 29, 1986.

She married William Merritt Hyde, September 10, 1922. To this union were born two daughters, Joetta and Carol, and two sons, Gary Wayne and Eddie.

Those surviving are her children, Joetta Hyde Fountain and husband, Alba, Kahoka; Carol Hyde Dochterman and husband, Robert, Arbela; Gary Wayne Hyde and wife Irene, Arbela; one sister, Lucille Riebel Blaine, Memphis; six grandchildren, Junior Bertram and wife, Linda, Luray; Peggy Dochterman, Tucson, Arizona; Ronnie Dochterman and wife Faith, Memphis; Bonnie Bertram Ramsay of
Phoenix, Arizona; Leon and LaNell Hyde of Arbela; four great grandchildren, Kelly Jo Bertram, Luray; Jennifer and Anna Dochterman, Memphis; and Tucker Ramsay of Phoenix, Arizona, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Merritt, on August 2, 1973; one son Eddie, September 6, 1949; seven brothers, Cody, Vern, Bill, Tiffy, Richard "Dick", Hazen and Arly Stone; one grandson, Donald Dochterman; one great grand-daughter, Casey Bertram; and one great-grandson, Darren Dochterman.

Virgil was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. She lived her entire life in Scotland County except for two years as a child when her family lived in Kansas.

Services were held July 2, 10 a.m. in the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri, Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiated. Pianist was Maxine Slavin. Body bearers were Clyde Lay, Robert Riney, Waldo McWilliams, Vern Bullock, Jr. Alexander, and Milt Garrison. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Payne-Gerth Funeral Home.
