Helen Goehring of Paragould was born April 25, 1931, at Cooter, Mo., and died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Southaven, Miss.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and teacher.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Darwin Goehring; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Harvey of Paragould; two grandchildren, Corey and Joyce Lemieux of Jonesboro; one sister, Emma Gene Hinson of Paragould; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Etta Brown; one brother, Truman Brown; and four sisters, Alma Jo Ray, Cora Mae Zahner, Flo B. Davis and Betty Ann Hammon.
She was retired from the Paragould school system, where she taught science at the middle school and junior high for 22 years.
She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in home economics. She had been an all-state basketball player at Cooter High School and was a huge fan of the Arkansas State University Red Wolves.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Greene County Retired Teacher's Association.
Graveside funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greene County Memorial Gardens under direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests donations be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 667, Paragould 72451, or to Greene County Retired Teacher's Scholarship Fund.
