David was the son of Russell Lorraine Atchley and Anna Stiles. He married Emily Maroshek.


David Atchley, 91


Born in Ewing he resided in Lambertville for 40 years until returning to Ewing five years ago.


He was a member of the Lambertville Lodge #1070 B.P.O.E.


Mr. Atchley's ancestors were among the first members of the Atchley family from Scotland to arrive and settle here in the 1700's. They settled in both Hopewell and Ewing and were prominent area farmers on Bear Tavern Road and Upper Ferry Road. The family farm near the Mercer County Airport is still known today as the Atchley Farm where Mr. Atchley operated his dairy until his retirement. The farm once consisted of the land of the Hickory Hills and Village on the Green developments. Atchley family members served as directors of the First Trenton National Bank, Trenton Savings Fund Society and helped organize the local farmer's co-op. The family was involved in the Consumer's Ice and Coal Company, the Interstate Fair Association the E. C. Hutchinson Milling Company in Trenton and their farming interests led to a partnership in the Julius Towne Dairy and Walker-Gordon Laboratory Company which was later sold to the Borden Company. The family was also involved in the founding of the Pennington Road Fire Company and First Aid Unit.


Son of the late Russell and Anna Stiles Atchley, husband of the late Emily Maroshek Atchley, father of the late Ann E. Polinski, and brother of the late Samuel T. Atchley and Mary Leigh, he is survived by his daughter and her husband ; a son and his wife; a son-in-law; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren,.


His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Vincent Gartland, pastor of the Church of St. Ann officiating.


Entombment will be in the Ewing Church Cemetery where several generations of the family are buried.


Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Lambertville Elks Lodge #1070 will conduct services at 6 p.m.
