Wilhelmina Anna "Minnie" Schoenfield was born on 9 August 1879 in Sublime, Lavaca County, Texas. She was the last of four children of Johann Gottlieb Schoenfeld and Mathilde Michling Schoenfeld.
Minnie was baptized on 28 May 1880 in the Sublime Zion Lutheran Church.

Two Schoenfeld siblings married two Schumaker siblings:
Minnie married Charles August Schumaker, the son of August Charles Schumaker and Magdalena Pelzer Schumaker, on 28 December 1899 in Sublime, Texas.
Minnie's brother, Paul, had married Charles' sister, Dorothea Schumaker, the previous year.
(About 1912, the surname of "Schoenfeld" acquired an "i" and became "Schoenfield.")

Minnie and Charley were the parents of seven children:
Alvena Matilda, Amelia Eulia, Emil, Lillie M., Larden P. "Buck", Garrett John, and Verna Mae.

In about 1910, the family moved to Taiton in Wharton County, Texas where they were engaged in farming and ranching.

Minnie was widowed on 30 January 1945 when her husband of 45 years died from a heart attack at the age of 67.
Minnie lived another nine years. She died at the home of her daughter, Alvena Schumaker Niemeier, at the age of 74.
