Charles August Schumaker married Wilhelmina Anna "Minnie" Schoenfield, the daughter of Johann Gottlieb Schoenfeld and Mathilde Michling Schoenfeld, on 28 December 1899 in Sublime, Texas.
Charles' sister, Dorathea, had married Minnie's brother, Paul Schoenfield, the previous year.
(About 1912, the surname of "Schoenfeld" acquired an "i" and became "Schoenfield.")
Charley and Minnie were the parents of seven children:
Alvena Matilda, Amelia Eulia, Emil, Lillie M., Larden P. "Buck", Garrett John, and Verna Mae.
In about 1910, the family moved to Taiton in Wharton County, Texas where they were engaged in farming and ranching.
On 30 January 1945, Charley had a heart attack at his home in Taiton, Texas and passed away at the age of 67.
