John D.[sic-Wesley] Martin, 71, Is Dead Near Warren
Former Petroleum Man - Funeral to Be Held At Reiffsburg Thursday
John D. Martin, 71, died at his home near Warren Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock of cancer of the arm of which he had been a sufferer for the past eighteen months. He had been bedfast a month.
The deceased was born in Wells county, near Petroleum, in 1854. He was the son of James D. and Sarah Ann Nutter Martin. Both parents were born in Ohio. He had spent all but the past twelve years of his life in Wells county, near Petroleum, moving from there to his present home near Warren.
Mr. Martin was a farmer and was a member of the Reiffsburg Methodist church.
He was married 23 years ago to Nancy Ellen Houdyshell[sic-Howdyshell]. The widow and the following children survive: Vaughn Martin and Mrs. Flossie Huffmon[sic-Huffman], both of near Warren, and Anna May and James, at home. One grandchild and two sisters also survive. The sisters are Mrs. Simon Sark, near Keystone, and Mrs. B. F. Leist, near Bluffton.
Funeral services will be held at the Reiffsburg church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Stahl cemetery.
