Services for Charles Colvin Bruner, 77, of Gladewater, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, with the Reverend Ellis Hayden and the Reverend Aubrey Pate officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park.

Mr. Bruner was born September 26, 1929, in Lillie, Louisiana, to Joe and Edna Bruner, who preceded him in death. He died peacefully Monday, January 15, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Bruner graduated from Doyline High School in Louisiana, and he attended Louisiana College as a ministerial student in Pineville, Louisiana. He was a licensed minister. He also attended a carpenter school in Shreveport, Louisiana, and since 1950, he had supervised the construction of churches, schools, businesses, banks, homes, and many other commercial projects. He had spent considerable time working with GAP in Mexico and Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Bruner married Ideallie Lorena Morgan at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Valley, Louisiana, and she survives him.

Mr. Bruner was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Melvin and Leroy Bruner. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bruner is survived by his daughter, Judy Hunter and husband, John of Mabank; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy Bruner of Gladewater, Jerry Bruner of Gladewater, and Charles Edward and Julie Bruner of Gladewater; six grandchildren, Brandon and Tiffany Hunter, Jacob, Paul, Rosie, and Drew Bruner; and one sister, Frances Tucker of Haughton, Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bill High, Ricky Rose, Rocky Hawkins, Scott Owens, Harry Haggard, Jeff Dennis, Paul King, and Gary Heatherington. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church.
