Thelma Surrency Bagley, 89, of Waynesville died Monday, May 26, 2008 at her residence. Thelma was born April 1, 1919, in Nicholls, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Bessie Surrency. She had been a resident of Glynn County, since 1953, but had lived in Brantley County for the past 13 years. Thelma was employed as a custodian at FLETC in Brunswick, where she worked for 5 years. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles, worshiping God and reading her Bible. She was a member of the Sterling Church of God for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Margaret Sumner Ladies Sunday Scholl Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Calvin Otis Bagley; and two sons, Samuel Carol Bagley and Calvin Eugene Bagley. Thelma leaves behind her loving daughter, Louise Smith Robbins of Waynesville; two sons, Rickey Bagley (wife, Irene) of Brunswick and Henry Gilbert Bagley of Darien; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2008, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bagley, Anthony 'Skeeter" Bagley, Ray Gordon, Calvin Bagley, Ricky 'Butterbean' Bagley Jr. and Joseph 'JOJO' Gordon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Bagley, Tommy Bagley, Joey Gordon, Ronnie Gordon and Huey Morris.
