Evelyn Shingleton1919 ~2004 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Evelyn Shingleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2004 of natural causes five days before her 85th birthday. Evelyn was born November 19, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fred and Vera Johnson. She married H. Richard Shingleton on July 3, 1941. She graduated from West High School in 1937. She was a beautiful girl and had a wonderful singing voice, appearing in many local operettas and choruses. She joined the choir of H. Frederick Davis and performed at the Salt Lake Tabernacle every Sunday. During World War II she worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Douglas in the Ordnance Department. In October 1941, she was transferred with her husband to Santa Anita, CA. She obtained a position as U.S. Army record keeper. She transferred back to Salt Lake in 1943. Evelyn enjoyed family vacations to many historical sites, resorts, and gardens in the USA and Canada. She loved going to movies, concerts, and the theater. Family and friends felt her positive attitude through her smile. We will love her forever and always. Survivors include her husband, H. Richard Shingleton; daughter, Deanna (Larry) White; son, Kevin R. (Cheryl); grandchildren: Lawrence White, Esther and Andrew Shingleton; and three great-grandchildren; sister, Beth (Ben) Pistorius; and brother, Stan Johnson.
